The team operates on a 4x10 schedule at our Materials and Fuels Complex. INL is recognized as a premier national laboratory for the Department of Energy, playing a pivotal role in nuclear research, development, and demonstration to advance nuclear innovation.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize engineering expertise to oversee the development of advanced micro reactors, requiring proficiency in the design of various equipment such as reactor instrumentation, motor control centers, motors, and variable frequency drives.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers while assisting the department manager in task assignments within the team.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles across diverse assignments related to nuclear reactors, including the design of electrical systems and the evaluation of potential electrical projects.
- Fulfill the System Engineering role for reactor designs and modifications to existing electrical systems, as directed by the engineering manager.
- Provide support for the installation and commissioning of assigned reactor systems.
- Manage configuration of assigned reactor systems.
- Collaborate with reactor design agents throughout the reactor lifecycle.
- Conduct performance monitoring and failure analysis.
- Support operations and utilize expertise in the design and installation of nuclear reactor electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC and IEEE standards for nuclear reactors.
- Maintain configuration management of engineering documentation and drawings.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues at all organizational levels.
- Analyze complex engineering solutions and apply knowledge of variable frequency drives and communication systems.
- Possess a foundational understanding of building management systems and HVAC control instrumentation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree with 3-6 years of experience, or a PhD with 2-4 years of experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship.
- Compensation range: Level 3 ($91,588) / Level 4 ($109,908), determined by education, experience, and credentials.
