Job Title: Reactor Project Electrical Engineer

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Reactor Project Electrical Engineer to join our team in the Reactor Project Engineering department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule, with every Friday off, located in the Materials and Fuels Complex. INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing critical nuclear research, development, and demonstration capabilities to advance nuclear innovation.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to design and develop electrical systems and power transmission and distribution for advanced reactor projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the development of integrated systems for safe and reliable power delivery.
  • Work with a diverse team of scientists and engineers to decompose project goals into defined design requirements using systems engineering approaches.
  • Develop and validate designs for secure, sustainable, resilient, robust, and reliable electrical power systems to support operating advanced nuclear reactors.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to design electrical power-related systems for advanced nuclear reactors.
  • Contribute to the development of functional and operation requirements, system design descriptions, and test procedures for equipment.
  • Utilize digital engineering tools to design and complete projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop system alternatives and analyze alternatives to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Establish and maintain configuration management of assigned systems while maintaining existing drawings and databases.
  • Develop design of experiments, including data acquisition, data collection, and data reduction as needed.
  • May oversee the design and maintenance of assigned high-risk electrical systems operations.
  • May direct others or work directly with equipment vendors to diagnose and repair malfunctions and design and specify new equipment to meet customer requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience, or Master's degree and 2 years of experience, or PhD and 2 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience functioning as a project lead, project manager, or lead role determined by level.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
