Job Description

The Electrical Power Engineering Team at the Naval Reactors Facility is seeking an associate level engineer to join our team. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design, maintain, and repair critical electrical infrastructure, including switchgear, power panels, lighting systems, and backup power systems.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Gather surveys, write reports, and develop documents using Microsoft products.
  • Manage design with National Electrical Codes (NFPA & International Code Council) and ensure design documents are prepared in compliance with these codes.
  • Provide engineering support in areas of expertise and work effectively as a team player with other engineering professionals, crafts trades personnel, management, business developers, and administrative staff.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
  • Familiarity with electrical trade work and equipment installations.
  • Power systems focus in undergraduate degree.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with teams.
  • Participation in large scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical power diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledge of CAD software.
  • Knowledge of SKM Power Tools software or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 & 70E and familiarity with other industry building codes.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $62,000.00 - $94,900.00 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including:

About the Naval Nuclear Laboratory
