Southern Auto Auction is seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to enhance our operational team. As New England's premier auto auction, we pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art facility that hosts live auctions weekly, attracting participants from across the nation.

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for executing various maintenance tasks related to the building and grounds, utilizing a range of manual, mechanical, and electrical equipment. This role requires proficiency in operating both small and large machinery to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of our facilities while adhering to safety and OSHA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Building Maintenance:

  1. Oversee the upkeep of the building's interior, including walls, floors, windows, and restrooms.
  2. Relocate office furniture and equipment as necessary.
  3. Assist staff with file organization and movement.
  4. Ensure cleanliness and adequate supplies in all public restrooms.
  5. Utilize power and hand tools for repairs and maintenance tasks.
  6. Follow OSHA regulations when handling hazardous materials.
  7. Support the Facilities Manager in daily departmental operations.
  8. Conduct weekly power washing of auction lanes.
  9. Maintain emergency equipment and familiarize yourself with safety protocols.
  10. Perform light electrical tasks such as changing bulbs and ballasts.
  11. Operate cleaning equipment and company vehicles as required.

Grounds Maintenance:

  1. Regularly remove litter from the auction grounds.
  2. Repair fences to maintain property security.
  3. Manage landscaping tasks including mowing, trimming, and seasonal clean-up.
  4. Ensure asphalt and curbing are maintained throughout the year.
  5. Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.

Additional Duties:

  1. On auction days, assist with vehicle movement and parking.
  2. Provide basic first aid as trained until professional help arrives.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, including electrical, HVAC, landscaping, and mechanical repair.
  3. Familiarity with OSHA compliance and hazardous materials management.
  4. Ability to effectively use technology for job-related tasks.
  5. Vocational training is preferred.

Safety Compliance:

  1. Adhere to OSHA regulations regarding hazardous materials.
  2. Maintain an organized file of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used.
  3. Participate in ongoing safety training and compliance efforts.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform various physical activities in all weather conditions. Candidates should demonstrate normal cognitive abilities and quick reflexes.

Work Environment:

Employees may encounter various weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels, particularly during auction events.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position, with potential for overtime based on business needs. Consistent attendance is crucial, and flexibility for after-hours work may be necessary.
