POSITION SUMMARY

The Support Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in guiding residents at the Ft. Myers Shelter towards achieving independence. This position involves working closely with individuals to advocate for their needs, establish personal objectives, and connect them with essential community resources and support services. The Coordinator will engage in one-on-one interactions with residents to set goals and assess their progress.

St. Matthew's House is a faith-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives within a nurturing and disciplined environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with residents to create tailored case plans.
  • Assist residents in identifying their needs and setting measurable goals throughout their stay.
  • Support residents in completing necessary documentation for goal attainment and referrals.
  • Maintain an organized schedule of all case management appointments.
  • Conduct weekly evaluations with residents to monitor their progress and ensure stability, while documenting interactions accurately in Mission Tracker.
  • Facilitate the allocation of funds to address immediate needs of resident children.
  • Refer residents to appropriate agencies based on their individual needs and case plans.
  • Work alongside volunteers to provide life skills training as needs arise.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure residents' living spaces meet shelter standards.
  • Provide front desk coverage as required, performing all associated tasks.
  • Administer random drug screenings for residents as necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the facility at all times.
  • Complete the discharge process for residents with accurate information.
  • Meet monthly with supervisors to update on residents' progress.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings to review case loads.
  • Communicate effectively through internal channels regarding shelter-related matters.
  • Uphold respect and appropriate boundaries with all residents.
  • Adhere to the Core Values of St. Matthew's House in all workplace interactions.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Shelter Director.
  • Share the Gospel message with residents when opportunities arise.
  • Engage in prayer with residents and staff as the occasion permits.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Certification in Addiction is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of one year working with individuals experiencing homelessness or addiction; ministerial counseling experience is a plus.

Confidentiality: Must handle highly confidential information with discretion.

Mental/Visual Demands: Requires normal mental and visual capabilities for the flow of work.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for at least four hours and lift a minimum of 25 pounds; must be able to bend or kneel as needed.

Work Environment: Typical office setting.
