Safety Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Safety Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health Corporation. As a key member of our Behavioral Health department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and promoting a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Perform tasks that do not require nursing judgments or administration of medications.
- Assist patients with ADLs as needed, obtain vital signs, and complete 15-minute safety checks.
- Ensure the unit is properly stocked and clean, and monitor patients and visitors to ensure safety.
- Perform tasks delegated by the assigned RN, including phlebotomy draws, obtaining EKGs, and completing blood glucose testing.
- Assist with patient care and transfer utilizing appropriate assistive devices, and complete administrative tasks as needed.
- Promote the safety of patients, self, and others, identify escalating behaviors early on, and work to diffuse the situation.
- Work to promote a restraint-free environment and assist with emergency safety situations, including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses, and 1:1 Safety watches.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years healthcare-related work experience, customer service, and strong communication skills preferred.
- Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
- Completes population-specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
Work Environment and Hazards:
- Office/Clinical Setting.
- Exposure Class I.
Physical Demands:
- Heavy work (Over 50lbs): requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying for long periods of time.
- Must have the visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care.
Pay Range: $19.00 - $25.90
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
