Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced English Teacher to join our team at Leman Manhattan Preparatory School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Middle School classes and stimulating the independence of each student as a learner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Management: Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate expectations that are clearly articulated to the students.
  • Student Engagement: Encourage students to ask questions and to express their difficulties.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives, and provide reports on student progress.
  • Differentiation: Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Student Support: Identify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriately.
  • Communication: Provide opportunities for student expression using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communication.
  • Learning Environment: Provide a safe learning environment in which students can take intellectual risks.
  • Technology Integration: Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate.
  • Cooperation and Tolerance: Develop student cooperation and tolerance through group work.
  • Global Mindset: Create an environment that fosters a global mindset.
  • Homework and Assignments: Assign homework that is meaningful and appropriate.
  • Community Involvement: Attend functions in support of school and community.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Master's Degree preferred, minimum of two year's high school teaching experience required, IB Language A Experience preferred.
  • Skills: Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, highly developed presentation skills, effective organizational skills, ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner, highly developed collaborative leadership skills.
