Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will undertake the following duties:
  • Utilize professional judgment to independently execute assigned engineering designs.
  • Support the Project Manager or assume the role of Project Manager, delegating tasks and timelines to Project Engineers and team members, addressing inquiries, and tracking progress.
  • Verify the accuracy of tasks completed by other engineering and technical personnel through formal and informal quality assurance/quality control.
  • Make significant design decisions that align with external client needs while considering the implications on related project efforts.
  • Proactively identify technical, scheduling, or financial challenges and seek resolutions from the Project Manager and/or the client as appropriate.
  • Assist clients in the bidding or contractor selection process if authorized by the Project Manager.
  • Oversee construction activities and supervise field personnel assigned to specific tasks or projects.
  • Address contractor inquiries and issues, preparing and issuing project addenda as necessary.
  • Recommend and prepare change orders as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering service proposals, including the estimation of time schedules and costs for proposed work.
  • Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
  • Communicate independently on technical matters with clients.
  • Act as a technical expert on assigned projects while functioning as an individual contributor, and serve as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related scientific field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional registration (P.E., L.S.) in one or more states where Timmons Group operates is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of design/engineering experience with a proven ability to act as an authorized agent of the company to sign engineering documents.
  • Proficiency in operating technical analysis and computer equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical literature and engineering plans.
  • Effective two-way communication skills to collaborate with internal staff and external clients.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities, applying professional knowledge to both routine and complex engineering tasks.
  • A commitment to participate in external activities representing the firm, including membership or leadership in professional associations and community outreach initiatives.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and a proactive approach to resolving client issues.
  • Development of financial project management skills through assigned project work and responsibilities.
