The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Utilizing professional judgment to independently execute assigned engineering designs.
- Supporting the Project Manager or taking on the Project Manager role, delegating tasks and timelines to Project Engineers and team members, addressing inquiries, and overseeing progress.
- Verifying the accuracy of tasks completed by other engineering and technical personnel through formal and informal quality assurance/quality control.
- Making significant design choices that fulfill external client needs while considering the implications of such decisions on related project activities.
- Proactively identifying technical, scheduling, or financial challenges and seeking resolutions from the Project Manager and/or the client as appropriate.
- Assisting clients in the bidding or contractor selection process when authorized by the Project Manager.
- Monitoring construction activities and supervising field personnel assigned to specific tasks or projects.
- Responding to contractor inquiries and issues, preparing and issuing project addenda as necessary.
- Recommending and preparing change orders.
- Contributing to the development of engineering service proposals, including estimating time schedules and costs for proposed work.
- Signing and sealing engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
- Communicating independently on technical matters with clients.
- Acting as a technical expert on assigned projects while serving as an individual contributor, and managing smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related scientific field, or equivalent work experience.
- Professional registration (P.E., L.S.) in one or more states where Timmons Group operates is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of seven years of design/engineering experience, demonstrating the ability to act as an authorized agent of the company to sign engineering documents.
- Proficiency in operating technical analysis and computer equipment.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical literature and engineering plans.
- Effective two-way communication skills to collaborate with internal staff and external clients.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities, applying professional knowledge to both routine and complex engineering tasks.
- A commitment to participating in external activities that represent the firm, including leadership roles in professional associations and community outreach initiatives.
- Maturity, professionalism, and a proactive approach to resolving client issues.
- Development of financial project management skills through assigned project work and responsibilities.
