The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist plays a crucial role in the oversight of laboratory operations, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely test results. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field, and be certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by a minimum knowledge-based exam, such as the Board of Certification (ASCP) or equivalent. A Master of Arts or Science degree is also desirable.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory methods and techniques, quality assurance, and PC and LIS knowledge. They will be able to apply their knowledge and skills to accurately perform all routine and complex laboratory procedures, and will be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laboratory testing.

The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist will work closely with section leadership to ensure laboratory compliance with all accreditation agencies, and will participate in Proficiency Testing and ensure proficiency testing is performed in the same manner as patient specimens. They will also be responsible for maintaining and updating laboratory policies, procedure manuals, and specified documents required for review by regulatory agencies.
