POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is accountable for identifying and spearheading initiatives focused on enhancing processes and advancing retail distribution within the organization. The Process Improvement Engineering Manager I will lead improvement initiatives through all phases of the Lean Sigma methodology (DMAIC, Lean, PDCA, etc.) to streamline all distribution center processes and minimize associated costs within the Supply Chain value stream. This position also oversees the operational readiness activities related to new facility launches and the reconfiguration of existing sites. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with Network Strategy, Distribution Center Operations, and Training to provide cross-functional project support. As process change initiatives are executed, the Process Improvement Engineering Manager I will also be tasked with creating and maintaining process documentation and controls in conjunction with Distribution Center Operations and Training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and lead improvement initiatives from initial concept through full execution across various organizational areas.
  • Oversee operational readiness activities for new facility launches and reconfigurations of current facilities.
  • Provide engineering expertise and support to Distribution Center Operations.
  • Offer leadership, guidance, and accountability for team members involved in projects.
  • Develop and conduct training as necessary to further promote continuous improvement within the organization (Change Management, DMAIC, Lean Sigma, etc.).
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation related to newly implemented processes (Best Practices, Procedures, Visual Management Guides, Control Plans, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, preferably in Industrial or Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience in the engineering sector.
  • Relevant engineering experience, preferably in retail distribution operations.
  • Minimum Green Belt certification in Six Sigma; Black Belt preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum Green Belt certification in Lean; Black Belt preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to manage projects and work independently across multiple improvement initiatives; Project Management (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Proficient in interfacing with all organizational levels and providing clear and concise project updates.
  • Highly developed problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to lead complex cross-functional strategic projects, facilitate Kaizen events, utilize and teach DMAIC methodologies, and effectively drive value and change within the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and technical writing abilities.
  • Experience in time studies, work measurement, and/or data collection for developing engineered labor standards; LMS experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project; expert level preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Minitab, and model simulation experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel between 25-50% of the time to support change initiatives across the distribution center network.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to work in an office environment, primarily utilizing a computer. Responsibilities include sitting, standing, walking, hearing, speaking on the phone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and handling paperwork/files.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

May include oversight of interns and analysts as needed.
