Job Title: Civil Engineer I

Pike Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer I to join our Siting Team. As a key member of our team, you will assist with engineering and technical expertise to solve complex civil-site development and permitting problems for utility substation, transmission line, and battery storage and renewables projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation and review of due diligence studies, site analyses, and feasibility studies, including zoning requirements, environmental studies, stream buffer requirements, stormwater management requirements, and existing site conditions.
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Have a proficient understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D and utilize a range of other design computer packages, including ESRI ArcMap, Microsoft Office, and HydroCAD.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Prepare conceptual/schematic site plans, grading plans, and access road layouts for client review.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, including existing conditions surveys, demolition plans, site plans, grading and drainage plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans, stormwater management plans, secondary oil containment plans, and technical details.
  • Understand and create substation civil-site drawing packages, utilizing industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide site inspection services to ensure compliance with various construction permits, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Construction General Permit (CGP), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), etc.
  • Interact with customer's internal engineers and technical personnel on a day-to-day basis.
Requirements:
  • Civil Engineering Degree awarded from a College of University that is accredited by ABET.
  • 0-2 years of Experience with civil land development, AutoCAD, Civil-3D grading, and or stormwater design.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Ability to monitor deliverables, schedules, and present solutions to the client.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
