Job Title: OPS Senior Licensed Practical Nurse (Weekend Warrior)

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated OPS Senior Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Weekend Warrior Program at the Ardie R. Copas State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Job Summary:

The OPS Senior Licensed Practical Nurse will provide quality care to veteran residents, ensuring their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and treatments per MD order
  • Monitor and provide interventions to meet the needs of the resident
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident's status
  • Supervise CNA and other supportive caregivers
  • Assist team members in giving care to patients
  • Administer direct care using nursing skills and judgment as needed
  • Evaluate and document the patient's condition and nursing needs
  • Set goals and prescribe appropriate nursing interventions to meet the physical, psychological, social rehabilitative and discharge planning
  • Initiate and share in leadership conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans
  • Assign nursing care to team members in accordance with the patients' needs and available staffing
  • Coordinate other duties as needed
  • Direct and evaluate nursing care provided to patients
  • Assist with orientation of new personnel
  • Coordinate nursing care of patients when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments/disciplines
  • Establish and maintain communications and utilize teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals
Requirements:
  • Must possess licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of Florida
  • Must have current CPR certification
  • Must be willing and able to only work evening, night, or weekend shifts
  • Must be willing and able to work at least one shift per pay period unless otherwise approved by the Director of Nursing
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process, to include but not limited to, a Level II Background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience in long-term care / 120 bed skilled nursing facility, with a geriatric population
  • One (1) year of experience providing practical nursing services
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
