Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nutrition Specialist to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As a Nutrition Specialist, you will play a critical role in promoting healthy eating habits and providing nutrition education to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to clients, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children.
  • Develop and implement nutrition education programs and materials, including workshops, classes, and online resources.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for our clients.
  • Conduct assessments and screenings to identify nutrition-related health risks and develop plans to address them.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in nutrition and health education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences, Home Economics, Health Promotion, or other approved nutrition or health-related degree.
  • Two years of relevant nutrition experience in a clinical, public health, or institutional setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nutrition or a related field.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, such as low-income families and individuals with chronic health conditions.
  • Knowledge of nutrition-related health risks and best practices for prevention and management.
