Job Title: Chemistry Manufacturing Manager

Absci is a pioneering company in the field of generative AI drug creation, aiming to revolutionize the development of biologics for patients worldwide. Our mission is to create better biologics faster, and we're seeking a highly skilled Chemistry Manufacturing Manager to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned professional with expertise in chemistry and manufacturing processes to drive the development, scale-up, and quality control of our AI-generated biologics. The successful candidate will coordinate CMC efforts with contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), ensuring timely delivery of early-phase biologics. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic execution: Function as technical lead at CDMOs for early-phase biologics drug development, including tech transfer, scale-up, gap/risk analysis, process characterization/qualification, and cGMP manufacturing.
  • Technical guidance: Provide expertise in cell line development, upstream process development, downstream process development, formulation development, analytical development, and drug product development.
  • Document review and approval: Review and approve controlled documents, including batch records, SOPs, protocols, and reports related to process development and characterization.
  • Project management: Manage project budgets, timelines, and commitments, ensuring compliance with cGMP regulations.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with QA/QC to identify and evaluate deviations, CAPA, and change control.
  • Liaison and leadership: Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners, including CDMOs and vendors, and lead the work of partner organizations and consultants.
Qualifications:
  • Educational background: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as chemistry, chemical engineering, or pharmaceutical sciences, with advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional experience: Minimum 3 years of industry experience in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, with a focus on CMC, and knowledge of biologics development processes.
  • Skills: Proven experience in project management, technical writing, and biologics regulations, with proficiency in MS Office, JMP statistical software, and Adobe Acrobat.
