Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation of regular and specialized diets, utilizing both verbal and written instructions, recipes, and dietary plans while ensuring minimal food waste.
  • Coordinate meal service for special events and assist in their planning, ensuring timely delivery of meals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, including all equipment and utensils, while performing dishwashing duties as needed.
  • Participate in the hiring, evaluation, and training of kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Manage inventory by checking in and organizing supplies, while also preparing weekly orders for food products.
  • Supervise kitchen personnel to ensure timely completion of tasks and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.
  • Prepare weekly production sheets and assist in the creation of staff schedules, as well as manage payroll documentation as required.
  • Engage in quality assurance activities within the department and uphold confidentiality of resident information.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings to stay updated on best practices in dietary services.

Work Environment:
This position is situated within a healthcare setting, requiring regular movement throughout the facility and interaction with patients.

Physical Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of culinary experience.
  • One year of experience in food service.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in a healthcare food service environment.
  • Prior role as a dietary assistant.
  • Two years of experience in a hospital or similar medical facility.

Additional Requirements:
Ability to prepare visually appealing and palatable meals, along with knowledge of food service protocols, sanitation practices, and safe food handling procedures.

Job Type:
Full-time position with competitive pay and benefits, including health and dental insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.

Schedule:
Full-time with varying shifts, including weekends and holidays as necessary. Certification in ServSafe and as a Certified Dietary Manager is required.
