Job Overview


Turner & Townsend is dedicated to assisting our clients with a variety of intricate projects, overseeing all facets of cost management and project execution.

We are in search of a Senior Estimator who possesses a robust background in large-scale Life Sciences construction initiatives. This role will serve as the primary liaison with our clients, ensuring that projects are driven towards exceptional results.


As a pivotal member of our Life Sciences team, you will collaborate with a group of forward-thinking professionals committed to enhancing our built environment.


This position involves delivering cost control and estimation services for our Life Sciences clients' facility capital construction programs, with a strong emphasis on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) expertise.

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate excellent communication abilities and be adept in a client-facing capacity.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead an Estimating team, ensuring accountability and performance.
- Take charge of client and stakeholder interactions throughout all project phases.
- Identify and implement enhancements to estimating and cost management practices, templates, and deliverables.


Knowledge Management:
- Ensure that critical insights and learnings from each project are recorded in internal/external benchmarking databases for future reference.


Process Improvement:
- Proactively seek and implement improvements to internal systems and processes.
- Drive the development of new business opportunities with both existing and prospective Turner & Townsend clients.
- Recognize and act on cross-selling prospects.
- Lead proposals for new engagements or modifications to current projects.
- Participate in relevant networking and promotional events.


Staff Development:
- Contribute to the formal management of staff and recruitment processes.
- Conduct performance reviews for team members.


Pre-Contract Planning:
- Provide comprehensive estimates and cost planning, culminating in the presentation of the final cost plan.
- Develop Project Capital Estimates using a detailed, bottom-up approach.
- Demonstrate the ability to estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
- Offer expert estimating services for Life Sciences projects from initial concept through to construction completion, maintaining key relationships with clients, construction managers, and project teams.


Procurement Support:
- Assist in all procurement aspects, including managing pre-qualification stages, producing bid lists, conducting bid analyses, and compiling contractual documents.
- Provide input into value engineering and assist in negotiating and approving final bids.


Post-Contract Management:
- Support change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly post-contract cost reports for client presentations.
- Oversee cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring a timely and accurate process.
