Job Summary

The University of Alabama is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Program Associate to join our UA ACTS team. As the main point-of-contact for students in the program, you will serve as a primary mentor for several students, providing individualized support and guidance to help them develop essential skills for academic success, social interactions, and daily living.

You will work closely with degree-seeking Autistic individuals to address their unique needs and challenges, including academic organization, social skills, and career building. Your expertise will also be instrumental in organizing and planning structured social activities for students in the program, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a caseload of students, providing regular check-ins and support to ensure their academic and personal success
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to address students' specific needs and goals
  • Collaborate with peer mentors to provide additional support and guidance to students
  • Attend campus and community outreach events to promote awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of program policies and procedures
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of four years of experience working with Autistic individuals or in a related field
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and the needs of Autistic individuals
  • Ability to learn and keep up with the latest trends and research regarding Autism Spectrum Disorders
Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Psychology, Communicative Disorders, Education, or Social Work, is preferred. Experience working with Autistic individuals and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders are also highly valued.
