Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering to join our faculty at the University of Alabama. The successful candidate will have a strong research background and a proven track record of scholarly productivity and impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in chemical and biological engineering, with a focus on areas such as bio/metabolic engineering, biomaterials, computational biology, additive and advanced manufacturing, process control and systems engineering, sustainable polymers, and electrochemical engineering.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical and biological engineering, including classes that support the delivery and accreditation of the Department's core degree programs.
  • Develop and lead a highly productive research group with significant scholarly impact in a focus area with long-term potential to further build upon the rapid rise and great success of the ChBE department and the UA College of Engineering.
  • Collaborate with existing faculty in the key focus areas both within the ChBE Department and the College of Engineering, as well as potential colleagues across the campus.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biological engineering, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, materials science and engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Record of impactful scholarly publications in refereed and other professional journals and venues.
  • Experience as a tenured faculty member at a leading peer R1 institution, or equivalent experience in industry or research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-doctoral experience or other similar post-graduate experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
