Veterinary ICU Technician

Vista Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our overnight team in our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Care for a variety of cases, including emergency and specialty medicine
- Prioritize patient hourly treatments and delegate tasks
- Triage critical patients, recognize changes in patient status, and report to the doctor
- Educate and update owners on patient status and discharge patients from the hospital
- Assess hospitalized patients' needs and communicate details to the DVM overseeing the case
- Perform inpatient treatments and nursing care throughout the shift
- Calculate and administer medication, fluid additives, and CRI's
- Partner with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Obtain and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and free fluid
- Place and maintain nasogastric tubes, nasal cannulas, and central venous catheters
- Utilize different modalities of imaging for patient assessment
- Execute, monitor, and recover all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
- Surgical assisting for minor procedures
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting
- 1 year of ECC experience preferred
- RVT or VTS preferred but not required
- Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring
- Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and working knowledge of radiographic techniques
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
