Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Gig Harbor, WA. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety, preventing crime, and enforcing laws in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity, and to provide a visible presence in the community.
  • Respond to emergency calls, administer first aid, and provide assistance to the public as needed.
  • Conduct preliminary and continued investigations of reported crimes and traffic accidents.
  • Enforce traffic laws, issue citations, and conduct security surveys for businesses.
  • Perform crisis intervention, provide referrals to community resources, and testify in court as needed.
  • Attend training classes and seminars to maintain current knowledge of laws, procedures, and technical skills.
Requirements
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Valid Washington State driver license.
  • Successful completion of a state-accredited law enforcement academy.
  • Previous employment as a full-time commissioned peace officer with a city or county law enforcement agency for at least 12 months within the preceding 24 months.
