Exceptional Children Coordinating Teacher Opportunity

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced Exceptional Children Coordinating Teacher to support our special education programs in schools and outside agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with exceptional needs
  • Coordinate and assist with instructional programs for students with exceptional needs
  • Maintain an effective special education program consistent with state and federal guidelines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • At least three years of teaching experience in special education
  • Valid North Carolina Teaching Certification in Special Education
  • Master's degree in Special Education preferred

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with special education regulations
  • Provide support and resources to teachers and staff to ensure effective implementation of special education programs
  • Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal regulations and laws related to special education

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of special education programming and regulations
  • Ability to interpret and apply local, state, and federal regulations and laws related to special education
  • Skilled in educational testing and assessment

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Work occasionally requires exertion of force
  • Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings
  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy location
