JOB DESCRIPTION

Providence School District is in search of a dedicated and skilled Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. This role presents an exciting opportunity for educators who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners with diverse needs.

As a special educator, you will work under the guidance of school leadership to teach essential daily living skills and coordinate support services for students facing moderate to severe challenges in language, learning, behavior, and social skills, all in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Educating children with various disabilities, ensuring that each child receives the necessary support tailored to their unique needs.
  • Collaborating with families and staff to develop and adjust educational plans throughout the academic year.
  • Completing essential assessments and documentation required for special education services.
  • Utilizing specialized teaching techniques to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Our district serves a diverse population of approximately 22,000 students, with many coming from homes where English is not the primary language. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment that promotes high expectations for all students and strives to close achievement gaps.

REPORTS TO: Principal
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, with a Master's degree preferred.
RIDE Certification Requirements:
  • All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disability, Grades PK-12
ESL Certification Preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Implement district curriculum aligned with state standards.
  2. Provide tailored instruction to students with disabilities in various educational settings.
  3. Collaborate with general education teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.
  4. Develop and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) within required timelines.
  5. Monitor and report on student progress in accordance with regulations.
  6. Foster a positive and structured classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  7. Utilize technology to enhance instructional delivery.
  8. Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices.
