About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our team at Corvian Community School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Collaborate with parents/guardians, school administrators, and support staff to create personalized education plans for students with disabilities.
  • Provide Direct Instruction and Support: Offer tailored instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in both inclusive and pull-out settings, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
  • Differentiate Instruction and Adapt Teaching Strategies: Utilize a variety of instructional materials, assistive technologies, and interventions to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Conduct Ongoing Assessments and Record Progress: Regularly evaluate student progress and adjust instruction and support services accordingly, maintaining accurate records of student performance and growth.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues and Provide Communication: Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to supporting students' academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Stay Current on Best Practices and Evidence-Based Interventions: Engage in ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues to stay up-to-date on special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Essential Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Special Education Laws and Regulations: Possess a strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices in assessment, instruction, and intervention.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching Certification/License in North Carolina: Hold a valid teaching certification/license in North Carolina.
  • Previous Teaching Experience: Possess previous teaching experience, preferably in a charter school or diverse educational setting.
