The University Security (University of Minnesota) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Security Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for providing unarmed security services to our campus, providing operational guidance to student Security Monitors, and advising members of the University Community regarding safe behaviors, laws, rules, and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Communications and Guidance: Communicate relevant laws, rules, and policies to support a safe and secure campus environment.
- Student Support: Provide guidance and direction to student Security Monitors in the field, including field training as directed.
- Security Services: Provide safe-walk escorts to students, faculty, and staff, perform patrols of campus buildings, lock and unlock doors, and identify, report, and resolve security risks, safety hazards, and building maintenance problems.
- Emergency Response: Assist law enforcement with identification and removal of trespassers, respond to medical emergencies to provide first aid, notify emergency responders, and support overall emergency response.
- Event Support: Provide general security support during campus events and gatherings.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- License: Valid driver's license.
- Certifications: First Aid, CPR, AED (American Heart Association) certification within 30 days of employment.
- Attendance: Regular attendance is an essential qualification for this position.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Cultural Competence: Able to deal with diverse populations sufficient to respond with sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
- Problem-Solving: Able to resolve problems and make decisions quickly and effectively sufficient to defuse conflicts and violent situations and maintain safety on the campus.
