Job Title: Quality Assurance Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team at General Dynamics NASSCO. As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Witnesses or performs and documents inspections and tests at key points in the work process.
  • Creates written records to document the inspection results and provide supporting documentation to the Test and Inspection plan.
  • Ensures all QA inspection equipment being utilized is calibrated and is certified under the company's calibration process/programs.
  • Evaluates results from tests and inspections to determine acceptability.
  • Has the authority to accept, reject or rework defective or malfunctioning units as per procedures.
  • Responsible for managing OQE documentation for work assigned to them.
  • Applies testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluates results.
  • Conducts in-process inspections to ensure correct materials, proper fabrication and installation procedures are utilized during production process.
  • Performs monitoring and surveillance of shipboard production processes for compliance to standards requirements.
  • Researches standards and specification requirements to develop monitoring/surveillance plans.
  • Organizes and reports test results.
  • Performs specialized inspections.
  • Performs and reports work in process observations/surveillances/audits to provide an overview of adherence to work specifications and the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Reviews all Work Specification items, drawings, technical manuals, NAVSEA Standard Items or other contract documentation to ensure all Testing and Inspection requirements are identified or captured in the TIP.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly QA metrics.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to qualify as a Level II Non-Destructive Testing Inspector in the following NDT processes: (VT and LPT) within one month of assignment.
  • Must be proficient in reviewing and following NDT procedures, work specifications, drawings, technical manuals and regulatory body requirements to ensure all requirements are completed within the specified criteria.
  • Must be able to generate NDT reports documenting the results of inspections.
  • Must have knowledge and be able to establish and maintain quality records to demonstrate conformance to specified requirements and effective operation of the quality program.
  • Must be able to provide guidance and training to J1 inspectors in the performance of their duties, when assigned.
  • Must have basic knowledge of: Request for Contract Change (RCC), Engineering Service Request (ESR), Condition Found Report (CFR) Departure from Specification (DFS) or other work authorizing document.
  • Must have basic knowledge of the Corrective Action Request I Preventative Action Request (CAR/ PAR).
  • Must have the ability to determine the quality of work performed by other trades and its compliance with contract requirements.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to ensure all QA inspection equipment being used is calibrated and is certified in accordance with the company's calibration process/programs.
  • Must be able to identify problems and discuss solutions.
  • Must be able to perform his/her job in the appropriate time frame with little supervision.
  • Must be able to identify questionable workmanship and seek guidance on the actions required to correct.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blue prints, and drawings.
  • Must be able to identify and report non-conformances using the NCR process.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Process Control Procedure/ CWP requirements.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills.
  • Must be WAF trained.
Working Relationships:

Reports to QA Supervisor or QA Manager. Maintains internal contact with Receiving, Safety and Production. Outside contact includes sub-contractors and government or Navy personnel. Must be a team player.
