Job Title: Plant Mechanic II

MarBorg Recovery is seeking a highly skilled Plant Mechanic II to join our team at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Tajiguas Landfill. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation of equipment located inside the MRF.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform planned maintenance inspections (PM) and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components, including balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, and optical sorters.
  • Make necessary repairs to plant production equipment and support equipment as required.
  • Maintain inventory control of maintenance repair parts and work with outside vendors to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Schedule and set priorities for maintenance and repair work on equipment and establish work procedures to meet production needs.
  • Generate work orders and evaluate repair work on its completion.
  • Perform highly technical work on hydraulic systems, fabrication projects, and rebuilding assignments.
  • Locate, correct, and adjust defects in light and heavy-duty vehicular and mechanical equipment.
  • Adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems.
  • Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Act as a lead worker by instructing and directing others, assigning, reviewing, and checking work.
  • Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds.
  • Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns and manage facilities improvements with contractors.
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of electrical and control systems and a high level of competency within a specific trade or discipline (e.g., welding, millwright, mechanics).
  • Ability to work on conveyor belts and motors that drive the belts.
  • Trained on all needed hand tools to complete tasks.
  • Able to troubleshoot hydraulic issues on the baler and optical sorter.
  • Able to replace baler knives on the baler.
  • Able to replace STADLER bearings and shafts.
  • Able to replace all components on the screens (shafts, bearings, chains, and sprockets).
  • Able to replace optical sorter belts using the belt press.
  • Able to torch cut using a gas torch.
  • Able to safely and efficiently lead a crew of maintenance mechanics to complete tasks.
  • Principles of automotive repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform under limited supervision.
  • Ability to recognize routine mechanical difficulties and malfunctions.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand, power tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to always work safely and institute safe work practices.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 5 years of mechanic service and repair experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including the application of concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
