About the Technology: Our cutting-edge process utilizes extreme temperatures to decompose methane, the main component of natural gas, into hydrogen and solid carbon. This hydrogen can significantly reduce carbon emissions across various sectors, including ammonia production, fuel generation, and electric power.
Position Summary: As a key contributor to our Technology team, you will leverage your extensive expertise in chemical process technology to facilitate the transition from laboratory innovations to pilot and commercial implementations. Your leadership and strategic insights will be vital in driving the advancement of C-Zero's unique pyrolysis technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement engineering strategies aligned with C-Zero's mission and technology scaling objectives.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight on major engineering initiatives, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Collaborate with R&D, sales, and marketing teams to evaluate the competitive landscape of emerging engineering technologies.
- Lead engineering projects to design integrated systems for converting natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon.
- Utilize your specialized knowledge to influence technical decisions, prioritizing lab initiatives and identifying critical experimental outcomes for technology scaling.
- Work closely with the R&D team to design and model process units, translating experimental results into effective commercial plant designs.
- Manage external engineering firms to advance engineering designs in support of technology scaling efforts.
- Conduct mechanical design, heat transfer analysis, and chemical process modeling using industry-standard software tools.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering their professional development in technology scaling.
- Assess and optimize the arrangement of unit operations, balancing process requirements with economic considerations and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with 15+ years of industrial experience, or a PhD with 10+ years in Chemical/Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, heat transfer, and chemical process modeling.
- Experience in operational roles within the downstream oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, or related sectors.
- Proven track record in engineering design delivery, successfully transitioning technologies from lab to pilot and commercial scales.
- Demonstrated ability to design, model, and optimize components for industrial chemical engineering systems.
- Familiarity with CAD, chemical modeling, and advanced computational software.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, procurement, and construction firms.
- Proficient in mentoring and guiding junior engineers to enhance their technical skills and execution capabilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry standards, reference cases, and best practices.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
