Position Overview

New York University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join its University Development and Alumni Relations team as an Assistant Director of Development. This role will play a critical part in supporting the growth of the parent philanthropy program, working closely with alumni relations and development staff to research, recruit, and solicit high net worth families.



The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of annual and major gift parent prospects, developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement and solicitation strategy, and contributing to enhanced engagement of high capacity parents. This role requires excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, as well as strong analytical skills and the ability to plan and implement events and develop marketing strategies and proposals to garner philanthropic support.



The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, volunteer management, marketing, communications, or a combination of experience and education. Knowledge of industry-wide best practices for parent philanthropy and engagement, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively, are highly desirable.



New York University offers a competitive salary range of $105,000 to $125,000 per year, as well as a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities for professional growth and development. The university is committed to being among the greenest urban campuses in the country and carbon neutral by 2040.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive engagement and solicitation strategy for families of NYU students
  • Manage a portfolio of annual and major gift parent prospects
  • Collaborate with alumni relations and development staff to research, recruit, and solicit high net worth families
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and proposals to garner philanthropic support
  • Plan and implement events to engage high capacity parents

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in fundraising, volunteer management, marketing, communications, or a combination of experience and education
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to plan and implement events and develop marketing strategies and proposals

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fundraising experience in a research university environment
  • Knowledge of parent philanthropy and engagement
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively
