POSITION SUMMARY: The Nutritional Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting with all aspects of food service as directed, adhering to established dietary policies and procedures.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Full Time and Part Time Opportunities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, present, and serve meals according to planned menus, utilizing standardized recipes and accommodating special dietary needs. Provide nutritional snacks for residents at bedtime and offer alternatives for those who decline the served meals. Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment within the department by ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available. Adhere to the facility's Infection Control Precautions during daily operations.
- Execute dishwashing and cleaning tasks to ensure that utensils and equipment are ready for subsequent meals.
- Prepare and distribute snacks as instructed. Deliver food carts and trays to designated locations and serve meals in the dining area as directed. Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors in the kitchen and dishwashing area as required by the supervisor.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To excel in this role, candidates must be able to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are essential:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, ensuring work areas are clean and orderly while regularly inspecting food service areas for sanitation and safety.
- Possess patience, tact, a cheerful demeanor, and enthusiasm, along with the capability to interact with residents at various maturity levels.
- Willingness to explore new methods and principles, integrating them into existing food service practices.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities:
- Ability to move throughout the workday.
- Must possess adequate sight and hearing, or utilize prosthetics to ensure these senses function properly to meet job requirements.
- Capable of pushing, pulling, moving, and/or lifting a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least 5 feet and carrying such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
