Medical Support Specialist

As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of quality and customer service in our plasma collection centers. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician to ensure that all medical procedures are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and BioLife's standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current licensure or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
