Job Summary

As the Business Services Director at Duval County Public Schools, you will lead and oversee the Business Services Department, ensuring the effective management of financial operations, accounting, and budgeting. Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and train assigned Business Services staff, conduct performance appraisals, and make employment and discipline recommendations.
  2. Ensure compliance with Florida Statutes, State Board of Education Rules, and Governmental Accounting Standards Board.
  3. Develop and establish procedures for recording, summarizing, and analyzing financial transactions.
  4. Establish and maintain internal controls that meet accounting and audit standards.
  5. Plan and provide accurate, timely financial information for fiscal management.
  6. Prepare and coordinate annual financial statements.
  7. Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as the 1099 process.
  8. Serve as finance Team Lead for SAP testing, enhancements, and upgrades.
  9. Represent the District on committees associated with areas supervised.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of public school administration and/or training and experience in business management and accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles, business administration, and Governmental General Accounting Procedures (GAAP).
  • Strong supervisory skills, oral and written communication skills, and ability to exercise sound independent judgment.
