What does a Media Investments Manager do?

The Media Investments Manager plays a crucial role in negotiating various media formats, aiming to secure optimal placements at competitive prices within the media strategy. This position also ensures the media schedule's integrity throughout the duration of the purchase, including conducting post-buy analyses and evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and acquire traditional and OTT/CTV media.
  • Estimate, update, and adjust ratings based on demographic data and current market research.
  • Analyze trends in media ratings.
  • Evaluate media proposals and provide insights.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with media vendors.
  • Serve as the market expert for specific markets and media types.
  • Identify unique media opportunities to enhance client business.
  • Track and secure added value through tickets, spots, and promotions.
  • Organize and participate in client 'Media Days.'
  • Provide guidance on traffic as needed.
  • Resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Deliver post-media schedules that meet industry standards of 90-110%.
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining plans that align with client strategies and objectives.
  • Contribute to quarterly reporting for clients.
  • Develop and implement integrated media plans that support client goals.
  • Establish stewardship of media plans and client flowcharts.
  • Experience in budget planning and forecasting across various media.
  • Manage client budget documents and track financial performance against client objectives.
  • Demonstrate leadership by identifying trends, opportunities, and best practices to keep the agency competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, advertising, or communications.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of negotiation experience in an agency environment.
  • Experience managing multiple clients and diverse projects.
  • Strong communication, time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • In-depth understanding of traditional media channels and familiarity with all media avenues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Essential Skills:

  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with Strata or other media buying software.
  • In-depth knowledge of Nielsen and Comscore.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail in both written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with other MS Office applications.
