Position Overview
The Closing Department Manager at McCurdy Real Estate & Auction is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Closing Team. This position is crucial in ensuring seamless transactions from auction to closing, maintaining our commitment to exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Risk Management – 50%
- Supervise the closing department staff, delegating tasks and resolving conflicts.
- Become an expert in compliance standards, focusing on real estate contracts and closing procedures.
- Collaborate with the firm's General Counsel or Managing Broker to address and mitigate risks.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance customer service and reduce risks.
- Successfully navigate complex transactions alongside Auction Managers.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of documents in line with Kansas Real Estate Commission regulations.
- Familiarize yourself with REALTORS of South Central Kansas (RSCK) rules and regulations.
- Review title documents to identify and resolve issues related to obtaining clear titles.

Contracting for Real Estate Transactions – 40%
- Serve as the main contact for all parties involved in transactions from contracting to closing.
- Assist the Sales Team with contracts for real estate auctions and private sales.
- Address challenges by escalating issues to the Auction Manager or Managing Broker.
- Gain proficiency in standard RSCK and custom McCurdy contracts, recommending enhancements as necessary.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to encourage repeat business.

Additional Responsibilities – 10%
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor Closing Coordinators.
- Observe Sales Team operations to recommend process improvements.
- Collaborate with other department managers on transactions and initiatives.
- Stay informed about changes in the real estate and auction sectors.
- Engage in business development activities alongside the Sales Team.

Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in business preferred.
- Experience in real estate, banking, or title companies is essential.
- Kansas Real Estate Salesperson's license or willingness to obtain one.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and ability to learn specific software tools.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Availability to work evenings or weekends as needed for urgent transactions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office setting with prolonged periods of sitting.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and travel to various offices as necessary.
