Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Laurel Knowledge Beginnings. As a Cook, you'll play a vital role in preparing healthy and delicious meals for our children, ensuring they have the fuel they need to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to strict food safety protocols.
  • Order food and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing waste.
  • Dispense and store medication, as requested, and complete accurate documentation according to KinderCare and licensing requirements.
  • Support center success by partnering with staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and the ability to implement methods of food cross-contamination avoidance.
  • Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food for the center population.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions.
  • Possession of a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain.
  • At least one year of institutional cooking experience, with food ordering experience highly desirable.
  • Two or more years working with children, highly desirable.
  • Physical ability to use a computer with basic proficiency and lift up to 40 pounds, as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
