Patient Care Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Patient Care Technician, who will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse. This position is crucial in assisting with routine and repetitive patient care tasks within a healthcare environment.
Overview:
The Patient Care Technician will engage in various clerical, organizational, and patient-centered activities that are supportive in nature, ensuring a high standard of care for all patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Facilitate the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
- Complete necessary documentation accurately.
- Prepare patient rooms for new admissions, including setting up IV equipment and adjusting beds.
- Ensure all personal belongings accompany patients during transfers or discharges.
- Safely transport stable patients as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and security during patient transport and interactions.
- Clean, procure, and return medical equipment and supplies as needed.
- Perform errands for the nursing unit as necessary.
- Assist licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment for patients, including replenishing supplies.
- Execute unit-specific patient care tasks in accordance with established protocols.
- Recognize and report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the supervising nurse.
- Assist in managing inventory and stock items as needed.
- Organize and maintain unit supplies effectively.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Communicate efficiently with team members during shifts.
- Attend to phone calls and patient call lights promptly.
- Adapt care methods to meet the diverse needs of each patient.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform assigned patient care responsibilities competently.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Certifications:
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
Work Schedule:
7AM - 7PM
