Position Overview:
This is a full-time role within our Day Habilitation Program, offering a comprehensive benefits package along with generous time off and holiday allowances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications, perform nursing procedures, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ensure the health and safety of participants under our care.
- Educate and certify AMAP staff, conducting monthly observations and annual recertifications.
- Provide monthly Medication Administration Records (MARs) and verify that AMAP staff accurately dispense medications and document accordingly.
- Maintain up-to-date and precise documentation related to medication management, ensuring compliance with physician orders.
- Deliver annual training on the health requirements of individuals, adapting as necessary for changes in health status.
- Instruct staff on choking and aspiration prevention techniques, as well as health and safety protocols.
- Offer triage for illnesses or injuries, either in person or via phone, and provide first aid as required.
- Review new admissions for relevant medical information and assess whether our agency can meet their needs within our programs.
- As a certified CPR instructor, provide training to staff, ensuring compliance with certification requirements.
Qualifications:
- A valid Registered Nurse (R.N.) license from New York State is mandatory.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital, emergency room, or similar medical environment.
- Experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities is advantageous.
- Familiarity with New York State OPWDD regulations governing the care of consumers is essential.
