Role Summary:The Materials Management Supervisor is an integral member of the Supply Chain team, responsible for ensuring that our business unit meets its food cost targets and maintains effective inventory control.
This role involves collaboration across various departments and engagement with employees at all levels within the organization. The Supervisor will lead efforts in analyzing material usage discrepancies and formulating corrective strategies.The individual will oversee the overall management of materials, ensuring readiness for global audits and compliance with established standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures related to materials management.
- Manage the execution of internal audits concerning materials, including yield assessments, portion control, and waste management.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to enhance inventory management practices.
- Address challenges related to stock shortages or surplus inventory proactively.
- Review monthly material metrics with the management team to track performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices across the region.
- Support compliance with global key performance indicators and audit requirements.
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to maintain operational excellence in materials management.
- Develop and implement action plans to ensure proper execution of inventory control policies.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates and review daily reports.
- Lead weekly materials coordination meetings, overseeing audits and specific research tasks.
- Manage the material information board and generate necessary reports.
- Conduct investigations into material usage discrepancies and collaborate with finance and procurement teams for financial analysis.
- Participate in the make-or-buy decision-making process.
- Oversee the performance evaluations of direct reports in line with company guidelines.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling to accommodate audits and research activities.
- Engage in the monthly physical inventory process.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or business management.
- Preferred specialization in logistics or supply chain management.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain within a manufacturing context.
- Proven experience in inventory and materials management using ERP systems.
- Experience in cross-functional team collaboration.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with food hygiene, health and safety, or high-security environments is advantageous.
- Previous exposure to airline catering operations is a plus, though not essential.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with BI and SharePoint.
- Functional knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control processes.
Job Skills:
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Capable of managing pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and proactive in approach.
- Adaptable and open to learning new processes and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on results.
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
Language Skills:
- Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of an additional language is beneficial.
- Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Work Environment:
- Office and operational environments, including exposure to cold temperatures and noise.
Reporting Structure:
- Direct Line Manager: Supply Chain Director / SC Process Owner.
- Number of Direct Reports: 1-3.
