Position Overview

The UCLA Information Security Office is dedicated to safeguarding the university's information assets by ensuring their confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

This office is responsible for developing effective incident response strategies and risk assessment protocols to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities within the university's information systems.

As part of this mission, the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team is focused on protecting UCLA's resources through comprehensive access management practices, including account lifecycle management, authentication processes, and role-based access provisioning.

The IAM Engineer will take charge of designing, implementing, and maintaining IAM solutions that align with the university's security policies and compliance requirements. This role will involve evaluating various hosting platforms and configuration technologies to ensure seamless integration between production and non-production environments.

Collaboration will be key, as the IAM Engineer will work closely with the Director of IAM, IAM Analysts, and various university departments, as well as external vendors, to facilitate secure and efficient access to identity data.

By fulfilling this role, the IAM Engineer will significantly contribute to the protection of sensitive information and support the university's academic objectives.

This position will embody UCLA's commitment to delivering exceptional security services across its community of faculty, staff, and students.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, computer science, or related fields (Required).
  • Advanced experience with identity and access management tools in a distributed IT environment (Required).
  • Hands-on experience with directory services and authentication technologies (Required).
  • Experience promoting an inclusive environment valuing diversity and belonging (Required).
  • Preferred experience in large public university settings.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages for automation (Required).
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information effectively (Required).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently (Required).
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative solutions (Required).
Education & Certifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP, or equivalent are preferred.
