Position Overview:

The Software Safety Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in transforming practical requirements into detailed technical specifications, ensuring the delivery of engineering solutions that prioritize customer satisfaction. This position involves providing expert technical guidance to senior Department of Defense (DoD) officials and service representatives regarding the implementation and oversight of software system safety for DoD weapon system acquisition initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a dynamic team of both client and contract personnel to utilize software expertise in achieving software system safety objectives, often as part of a broader system safety initiative.
  • Implement comprehensive software system safety programs or specific tasks, including the analysis of requirements, system architecture, design, and code, while conducting thorough safety-focused testing.
  • Assist in the evaluation of client software system safety documentation to ensure adherence to established requirements, policies, and guidance, as well as to assess the adequacy of documentation.
  • Commit to delivering client projects in alignment with predefined plans and quality benchmarks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the implementation of software system safety.
  • 1+ years of experience in developing and debugging multi-threaded or real-time embedded software.
  • Familiarity with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), Programmable Logic Devices (PLDs), and firmware development.
  • Knowledge of operating systems and compiler technologies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing software development environments and tools, such as Eclipse, Microsoft Visual Studio, or Rational Software.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and organize technical data into coherent and clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Capability to organize, schedule, and lead technical meetings and collaborative working groups.
  • Possession of a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Science, or Software Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

Security Clearance:

Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.
