Position Overview:

Are you eager to merge your engineering expertise with strategic thinking to influence System Safety? Our team provides critical support to senior Department of Defense (DoD) and Service officials in the execution and supervision of system safety for DoD threat system initiatives. You will utilize your specialized knowledge in system safety, employing scientific and engineering methodologies to identify and evaluate safety hazards associated with threat systems, while guiding the implementation of strategies to mitigate risks to personnel.

As a systems engineer within our group, you will thrive in a collaborative environment alongside both client and contractor personnel, executing extensive system safety programs or specific tasks across various systems, including unmanned systems, missile defense systems, surface vessel threat systems, and laser technologies. You will be well-versed in standard deliverables such as System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), various analyses including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem and System Hazard Analysis (SHA and SSHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) assessments, Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), and evaluation of test reports. Your role will involve data analysis, development of written documentation, presentation of findings, and review of client safety artifacts to ensure adherence to established requirements, policies, and guidelines. You will perform these responsibilities in accordance with defined plans and quality standards, while also having the opportunity to enhance processes and advance the field of system safety.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Engineering, EOD and Ordnance Operations, System Testing and Evaluation, Safety Programs, Directed Energy System Design, or Electromagnetic Emission Effects and Susceptibility.
  • Experience conducting MIL-STD-882 safety analyses or implementing systems safety programs.
  • Proficient in analyzing, researching, and organizing technical data into coherent technical reports and presentations.
  • Skilled in organizing, scheduling, and leading technical meetings and collaborative sessions.
  • Possession of a Secret clearance.
  • High School diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with NAVSEAINST 8020.6, Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB), or Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP).
  • Experience in Digital Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, Solid-state Electrical Circuit Design, Unmanned Systems Design, Human Factors Engineering, or Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Navy Principal for Safety (PFS), or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP).
Clearance Requirements:

Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.

Salary at Booz Allen is influenced by various factors, including location, education, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The anticipated compensation range for this role is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 annually. This range represents the typical salary for this position and is one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package.
