Software Safety Assurance Engineer

As a Software Safety Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming real-world requirements into precise technical specifications, ensuring the delivery of engineering solutions that prioritize customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical guidance to senior Department of Defense (DoD) officials and service representatives regarding the implementation and oversight of software system safety in DoD weapon system acquisition initiatives.
- Collaborate within a dynamic team environment that includes both client and contract personnel, leveraging your software expertise to fulfill software system safety objectives, often as part of a broader system safety initiative.
- Execute comprehensive software system safety programs or individual tasks, which include:
1. Analyzing requirements, architecture, design, and code.
2. Conducting thorough safety-specific testing.
- Assist in the evaluation of client software system safety documentation to ensure compliance with established requirements, policies, and guidance documents, while also assessing the adequacy of documentation.
- Focus on delivering client projects in alignment with established plans and quality standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in software development.
- At least 1 year of experience in the implementation of software system safety.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in developing and debugging multi-threaded or real-time embedded software.
- Familiarity with FPGAs, PLDs, and firmware development.
- Proficiency in operating systems and compiler technologies.
- Experience with software development environments and tools, such as Eclipse, Microsoft Visual Studio, or Rational Software.
- Strong analytical skills to research, assess, and organize technical data into clear and cohesive reports and presentations.
- Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups.
- Must possess a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Science, or Software Engineering.
Additional Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Clearance Requirements:
Applicants selected for this position will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.
Compensation:
The anticipated compensation range for this role is between $67,700.00 and $154,000.00 annually. This estimate reflects the typical salary range for this position and is a component of Booz Allen's comprehensive compensation package for employees.
Work Model:
If this position is designated as remote or hybrid, you will occasionally work from a Booz Allen or client site facility. If it is listed as onsite, you will collaborate with colleagues and clients in person as required for the specific role.
