Fisk University is seeking a highly skilled Digital Archivist to join our team in a pivotal role. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for leading the digitization and online access of the Julius Rosenwald Fund archive.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Oversee the digitization and online access of the Rosenwald Fund archive, ensuring the highest standards of quality and preservation.
- Metadata Management: Develop and implement standards and best practices for description, preservation, and administrative metadata in collaboration with project partners.
- Digital Content Management: Manage the digital content for long-term preservation and access, ensuring the integrity of records.
- Training and Supervision: Train and supervise graduate and undergraduate student assistants in digital archival management and preservation standards.
- Reporting and Professional Development: Prepare reports as required and engage in professional development, such as attending conferences, workshops, and webinars related to job functions.
- Education: Master's degree in library or information science with a broad knowledge of technology, or at least a master's degree in information technology or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience with digital archives, preservation, or life cycle planning, with exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Skills: Excellent knowledge of digital archival management and preservation standards, ability to work well with the project staff and the public, and good knowledge of advances in library technology to facilitate access to information.
