Layton Services, a reputable family-owned excavation and underground utilities contractor based in Newark, Ohio, specializes in a diverse array of sitework across Central Ohio. Our projects range from small-scale endeavors to extensive multi-family developments. Our core services encompass earthwork, site preparation (including mass excavation, building pads, and sub-grade preparation), underground utilities (such as water mains, fire lines, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and detention systems), and pre-construction demolition. We are seeking a Site Superintendent with a solid background in construction and exceptional leadership capabilities to oversee daily operations on-site and manage the short-term project schedule effectively.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities on the job site while ensuring adherence to the project timeline.
  • Manage the foreman and crew actively engaged in the project, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain proactive communication with the Project Manager regarding project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct inspections of work performed to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, both virtual and onsite, to discuss progress and address any issues.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend actions related to personnel management.
  • Coordinate inspections and address any deficiencies identified in inspection reports.
  • Act as the primary contact for project-related inquiries.
  • Determine project requirements and establish timelines for successful completion.
  • Foster positive relationships and effective communication with all stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Familiarity with Civil Engineering blueprints.
  • Experience with pay applications and change orders.
  • Proficiency in HCSS HeavyJob software.
  • Demonstrated success in client relations.
  • Basic computer skills (PDF, Email, Word documents).
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification (can be obtained upon hire).
