Sterile Processing Manager

As a Sterile Processing Manager at Kaiser Permanente, you will oversee the daily operations of the Sterile Processing department, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will be responsible for supervising a team of technicians and staff, managing the collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. You will also be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive departmental orientation for new staff, ensuring staff work is performed within prescribed technical and safety standards, and providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and manage the Sterile Processing department, ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional agencies, including CMS, TJC, AAMI, AORN, and APIC.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure optimal sterile processing performance, quality control, and quality assurance.
- Manage the recruitment and selection of department staff, providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive departmental orientation for new staff, ensuring staff work is performed within prescribed technical and safety standards.
- Ensure staff attend technical and mandatory training/education, and provide or coordinate instructions and in-service on new products, procedures, and equipment.
- Manage labor and expense budgets, maintaining reports in appropriate cycles for department performance and staff attendance.
- Develop and submit department budget to the Director of Perioperative Services, responsible for maintaining fiscally responsible practices and meeting budget expectations.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in an acute or ambulatory-care sterile processing department.
- Minimum one (1) or more years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum one (1) or more years experience in preparing for local, state, and/or federal survey and/or The Joint Commission.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Health Sciences; or five (5) years of experience in an acute or ambulatory care sterile processing department and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - Technician Certification OR Registered Central Service Technician Certificate.
