Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Sterile Processing Department. As a key member of our Perioperative Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety through the management of surgical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage a team of Sterile Processing technicians to achieve operational performance and quality goals.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including CMS, TJC, AAMI, AORN, and APIC.
  • Manage the inventory and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient and effective instrument and equipment availability.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive departmental orientation program for new staff.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations to staff.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and meeting budget expectations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three years of experience in an acute or ambulatory-care sterile processing department.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience in preparing for local, state, and/or federal survey and/or The Joint Commission.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or Health Sciences; or five years of experience in an acute or ambulatory care sterile processing department and two years of supervisory experience.
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - Technician Certification or Registered Central Service Technician Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Leadership Certification (CHL).
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS).
  • Five years of experience in an acute-care sterile processing department.
  • Three years of progressive supervisory experience.
  • One year or more supervisory experience in a union environment.
