Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily functions of the Transportation team, ensuring the effective resolution of escalated matters to meet departmental objectives, including timely bookings and deliveries within budget constraints. Responsibilities include planning and training new personnel, conducting performance reviews, and managing recruitment and development activities for team members.
  • Coordinate transportation solutions for Ocean Freight, Container Drayage, and Linehaul (with Air Freight as necessary) in alignment with vendor guidelines, ensuring competitive pricing and performance standards. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and significance.
  • Prepare and issue precise documentation such as Air Waybills (AWB), Master Bills of Lading, House Bills, and Export Declarations in compliance with carrier regulations. Ensure timely issuance of pre-alerts and instructions related to transportation bookings.
  • Conduct thorough research on rate components, and obtain, create, and modify rates as needed. Maintain and update rate resources while nurturing positive relationships with external service providers. Respond promptly to all rate inquiries and confirm inbound rate tariffs. Approve invoices for contracted services.
  • Communicate effectively with all relevant stakeholders (internal and external) to resolve issues, guarantee customer satisfaction, and keep coordinators informed of status changes (e.g., additional charges, survey results, requests).
  • Ensure the MoveWare system is regularly updated with all relevant dates, notes, and documentation. Perform audits of team updates as required.
  • Assist the Director of Operations with assigned projects, which may include reviewing and filing rates for GSA, TSA regulation compliance, implementation, and audit procedures, as well as training new hires and support staff.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and managing team activities, including resolving escalated issues and supporting team objectives.
