Lead Scientist in Cancer Immunology
We are dedicated to advancing scientific research to enhance the quality of life for individuals.
The Cancer Immunology/Tumor Microenvironment team within Translational Medicine at Genentech is on the lookout for a driven Lead Scientist. This position emphasizes translational research and the formulation of biomarker strategies to bolster Genentech's extensive immune oncology initiatives. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced data analysis expertise in collaboration with a team of biomarker scientists to implement predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarker strategies for clinical development programs. A robust background in immunology, bioinformatics, or biostatistics, supported by publications in prestigious journals, is a significant advantage.
The Opportunity:
As a vital member of this innovative team, your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and facilitating the analysis of substantial clinical biomarker datasets while fostering scientific and technical innovation in partnership with other department members.
- Offering foundational bioinformatics support for molecules within the research portfolio, leading to first-in-human studies, while also conducting data analysis and presenting findings to contribute to novel concepts and clinical advancements in cancer immunotherapy.
- Designing and executing laboratory experiments utilizing single-cell technologies and cellular immunology assays in neoantigen-based cancer vaccines, focusing on TCR clonal mapping of antigen-specific T cells.
- Leading a team in early-stage drug development to evaluate clinical readiness, or in late-stage drug development to implement diagnostic and pharmacodynamic biomarker strategies.
- Disseminating results through publications and oral presentations.
Who You Are:
- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., immunology, molecular biology, cancer genetics, cancer biology, molecular oncology) with a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience in basic or translational research, in either academic or industry settings.
- Proficient in applying computational analysis to translational research and skilled in human immunological assays, including flow cytometry, T cell response monitoring, genomics, and single-cell assays.
- Experienced with advanced computational tools, having prior exposure to high-throughput molecular assays such as next-generation sequencing (WES, scRNAseq, ATACseq) and flow cytometry, and adept in programming languages like R and Python for intricate data analysis.
- With a proven track record demonstrated by first- or senior-authored publications in immunology/tumor immunology, the candidate must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills for presenting results at intra- and inter-departmental meetings, and exhibit the ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
