pbAbout the Role/b/ppThe Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) at the University of California, San Francisco, is a dynamic and collaborative research environment that brings together scientists from diverse disciplines to tackle complex problems in cancer research./ppWe are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Lead Cancer Biologist to spearhead our cancer research efforts and facilitate the coordination of large collaborative scientific initiatives./ppbKey Responsibilities/b/pulliDesign, oversee, and coordinate cancer projects that involve scientists across academic institutions, global collaborators, and industry partners./liliLead a team of researchers and trainees in unraveling mechanisms of different cancers./liliProvide scientific oversight, including review and advice on study design, modeling, data analysis and validation, team management, and suggesting new approaches./liliLaunch new projects and provide strategic planning to our cancer grant portfolio./liliTrack progress toward project goals, facilitate coordination among participating partners, evaluate project data and results, and report project status to leadership./liliIdentify new funding opportunities, coordinate submission of new project proposals, and prepare manuscripts for publication./li/ulpbRequirements/b/pulliPhD and post-graduate in cancer biology, cancer system biology, or a related field at the time of hire./liliDemonstrated high productivity and successful publishing record./liliDemonstrated experience as a research project lead./liliExperience managing collaborative projects among multiple laboratories./liliExperience writing research proposals and peer-reviewed manuscripts for publication./li/ulpbAbout QBI/b/ppThe QBI is a highly dynamic and collaborative institute that applies disease-agnostic technology, such as proteomics and functional genomics, to unravel the molecular networks underpinning cancer using systems biology approaches./ppOur current cancer projects aim to unravel mechanisms of breast, head and neck, and lung cancer. We leverage a wide array of experimental approaches with a collaborative infrastructure necessary for long-term investigation./ppYou will collaborate and interface with a highly productive and exceptionally collaborative group of scientists to further our understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving pathogenic diseases and discovering new avenues for therapeutics./p
