The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan's Von Voigtlander Women's Clinic provides consultation, comprehensive treatment, and a broad range of services and procedures for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for a broad range of gynecologic services.
The clinic team includes physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dieticians, as well as a multifunctional administrative/clerical team.

Responsibilities- Provide safe, effective, and individualized nursing care in an ambulatory care OBGYN clinic setting under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Provide nursing care according to the established institutional and unit policies.
- Provide the delivery of culturally sensitive, age-specific team-based care models in delivering nursing care for primary care patients, including adult medicine, pediatric, and OB/GYN patient populations.
- Perform nurse visits (in person/video visit).
- Assist with in-clinic procedures, including, but not limited to, Laminaria's and other gynecology procedures.
- Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.
- Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
- Observe patient status, report, and document changes and nursing care given.
- Administer and document medications according to established standards.
- Initiate appropriate measures in emergencies.
- Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by a Registered Nurse.
- Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving, planning, and improvement of patient care.
- Assist in quality assurance activities.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas, including prescription refills and durable medical equipment.
- Other duties as assigned could include, but are not limited to, OB intakes, wound care, suture/staple removal, results reporting, weight checks, blood pressure checks, injections, catheter insertion and removal, voiding trials, and specimen collection.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary services to provide high-quality, effective patient care.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills using the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.
- Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.
- Demonstrated accountability and dependability, including a good attendance record and punctuality.
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.
- Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
- Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
- Willingness to adapt to different populations, i.e., pediatrics, OB/GYN, and adult medicine, as patient demands.
- Demonstrated accountability and dependability, for example, completion of work, mandatories, and goal setting within established timelines.

Required Qualifications- Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing is necessary.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent (within the last five (5) years) experience in ambulatory care.
- BLS certification.
- Greater than one (1) year LPN experience.
- Ambulatory care LPN experience in Women's Health.
- Experience performing New Patient Obstetric Intakes.
- Additional specialty GYN ambulatory care experience in Vulvar, Peds GYN, Transgender Patients, Minimally Invasive Surgery, URO/GYN, and Chronic Pelvic Pain.
- Experience with MiChart, EPIC, Cisco Finesse, Word, and Excel.
Hours/Week: 32 hours (0.8 FTE)
Shift/Hours/Days: Day shift (8-hour shift); Monday-Friday. Depending on patient and volume needs, hours and days may be variable (nontraditional, including further weekends/holiday commitments).
Location: Von Voigtlander OBGYN Clinic and other work locations as needed to support patient populations seen in different locations.

Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.
